Blog_pix_linda_loudermilk_2_1Ok my dears, let’s get one thing straight. I am not a hippy, have never been a hippy, and can’t stand the smell of patchouli oil. But I was raised amid shamans and medicine people from various tribes around the world, have some great friends who are definitely hippies (see The EcoMom Story), and I certainly believe in a lot of "hippy" values. However, I love my luxuries and it was with great relief that I read in the Dalai Lama’s Ethics for the New Millenium affirmation about our right, as sensual beings, to enjoy surrounding ourselves with comfortable, and dare we say, luxurious things. Now that’s not to say we shouldn’t take into consideration how our luxuries effect others but if we can find luxury, eco and fair trade all in the same product? So much better! Drumroll please, and enter eco-chic pioneer, Linda Loudermilk. Her collections are truly mind blowing. When I helped co-produce last year’s premier North American World Environment Day event, two of my favorite green girls, Alexia and Abbie, came up from Linda’s Los Angeles showroom to do a trunk show for the Host Committee and seven months later, people are still talking about her innovative and gorgeous pieces. It is divine when you are swathed in a creamy silk given its color while buried deep in the earth with berries and leaves. Not only are her designs show stoppers, their stories are great conversation pieces as well. Indulge. And enjoy.
