270k3148So there’s nothing like being a mom to keep you humble and
grounded. Last week we had our “official” launch party at Green Fusion Design Center hosted by Robin Wright
Penn
- a very grounded and real mom herself, seen at left chatting with EcoMoms Diana Stobo and Pretty Girl’s Christina Friedman. Green Fusion owners Greg Snowden and Sophia Balestreri are inspiring green living pioneers, it was a lovely evening, the guests
seemed really excited to be a part of the EcoMom Alliance, and my
dear sweet son was by my side all night (when he wasn’t wheeling around on his
Heelies), proudly wearing his EcoKid t-shirt. Today however, he yelled with
fists clenched, that he wanted to kill me - in front of a newscaster doing a
story about the EcoMom Alliance! eek!!!! Granted, he was hungry and wanted
to rejoin his friends at school for lunch recess, but still, what’s an embarrassed mom to do?
Take a deep breath, work it out, and keep going! True, I could have better
explained to Corbin what was going on, I could have planned things differently,
I could have, I should have, I would have . . . but I didn’t. So onward and
upward. And really, that’s the best we can do when confronted with the daily
onslaught of statistics about melting ice caps, the war in Iraq, people losing
their homes to the fires in Los Angeles etc., etc.

The bottom line is you either worry about it, ignore it, or
do something and since the EcoMom Alliance is all about First Steps for A
Sustainable Future, here are a few more little ideas for things you can easily do. Use Greenback Search for your web
searches. Powered by Google, you’ll get the same high quality results, but under this "umbrella" they give back to the environment by purchasing carbon offsets on
your behalf, and the black background saves on energy usage. For Halloween, make sure you get some Endangered Species Milk Chocolate Halloween Treats so the treats you give out, don’t have quite so
many toxic "tricks". Finally, check out EO’s deelish body lotions and eco
friendly potions. I love the Advanced Serum Antioxident Blend and the Lavender
and Peppermint Foot Lotion
. When they say this stuff is meant to soothe and
refresh tired and overworked feet, they are talking first hand. Owner Susan Griffin Black, who co-founded the company with her husband 12 years ago, is a pioneering EcoMom extraordinaire balancing running the company with raising two kids, maintaining an active role in the Organic Trade Industry and oh, yea, practicing Buddhism. So I know her feet need refreshing!

Last but not least, a couple of save the dates to help you
come together, make new friends, and give your self a little break. On November
4th we have our first Bay Area Sustain Your Self event at Roco Dance & Fitness from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. So my SF Bay Area EcoMoms, have a good family Sunday and then get your
self a baby sitter and come on out for some you-time! EcoMoms get ½ off so
ticket price is a tax-deductible $35 for three hours of yoga, dance, and special presentations on sustaining YOU! Then, on November 29th, grab
your finest eco-chic garb and come on out for organic cocktails and
hors-douevres at our 1st Annual EcoMom
Approved Awards Celebration at Flora Grubb in San Francisco from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. More details soon but Robin is hosting again so make sure you mark your calendars! One day, I hope to meet each and every one of you at one of our events in your community. Until then,

XO,

Kimberly
